I'm reading Ann Streissguth's book. (I picked it up at the Women and Addictions Conference Oct '07 - which was GREAT!) She's Dir. of the Fetal Alcohol & Drug Unit at the University of Washington. "Fetal Alcohol Syndrome: A Guide for Families and Communities" (pub. by Brookes, 1997), is a terrific map for those of us driving the irregular terrain of FAS - parents, social workers, teachers, doctors, etc. Not only does she outline an action plan to develop advocates at each stage in the lifespan with FAS, her at-a-glance tables organize psychosocial, developmental, and neurological benchmarks, and attendant strategies to progress the challenged individual toward a life-better-lived. Take a look! It's available at www.nofas.org.
