For those of you interested in collaborating and connecting with other organizations in the tri-state area, The Fetal Alcohol Syndrome Support Network York City and Long Island, has an excellent website with resources and supports in the five boroughs of New York. Similar to the FASD New Jersey Task Force, this organization focuses on community outreach and education including all stake holders such as child welfare agencies, schools, hospitals, and other organizations, continuing education training for medical professionals, provides a state hot-line for screening and referrals to physicians to diagnose FASD, and focuses on implementation of a FASD curriculum in middle schools and high schools to educate about prenatal exposure of alcohol in pregnancy.
