9th Annual Perinatal Disparities Conference
New Jersey’s 9th Annual Perinatal Disaparities Conference is scheduled for September 4, 2008 from 8:00 am to 4:15 pm at the UMDNJ Oral Health Pavilion in Newark.
Conference highlights include Spike Lee’s wife, Tanya Lewis Lee, who is the national spokesperson on the campaign to improve birth outcomes for all races and ethnicities. Ms. Lee will be distributing (to all attendees!) a book that she and her husband recently co-authored. The director of the Federal Office of Minority Health, Garth Graham, M.D., will be sharing his perspective on the national initiatives to eliminate health disparities. The Commissioner of Health for NJ, Heather Howard, will be releasing her Prenatal Task Force’s recommendations and a formal Report at this event. She will be joined by NJ’s Human Services Commissioner, Jennifer Velez. Mayor Cory Booker will discuss the impact that disparities have on the city of Newark. In addition to these distinguished guests, an exceptional faculty will share their insights into best practices.
This conference promises to be an exciting event.
