The Society of Public Health Educators (SOPHE) presents a workshop entitled The Art and Science of Effective Leadership: Things That You Didn’t Know, But Must Know To Thrive as a Leader on December 3, 2010.
The goal of this workshop is to elicit a series of “Aha!” reactions as we explore health education leadership realities such as leading with and without the title you’ve got the title-finding followers, building commitment, risk taking, positionary vs. decisionary leadership, recognizing and seizing leadership opportunities, and living with the consequences of taking on a leadership role

New Website From Drug Free America

The Partnership for a Drug-Free America, with funding from the United States Department of Justice, Bureau of Justice Assistance, has launched a new and innovative website, PACT360 – Police And Communities Together. PACT360 features five law enforcement-led community prevention education programs designed to deal with existing drug and alcohol issues and empower parents and teens to protect themselves against these dangers.

Silmilac Recall 2010

Powdered Similac infant formulas (including soy formulas) have been recalled. The recall does NOT affect specialty powdered formulas (Elecare, Alimentum) nor any of the liquid concentrates nor ready to feed formulas) According to an Abbot representative the recall was voluntary and based upon a remote possibility of trace amounts of a common beetle in one production area. The FDA states that the affected formulas pose no immediate risk.
Parents can call Abbott Nutrition at 800-986-8850 or access the Similac Recall Site to determine if the formula they purchased is part of the recall by entering the lot number on the can.
